VII. Teacher’s Report – Second grade teachers would like to encourage families to participate in the Multicultural Night on April 13th. So far they have 8 families that have committed to help, but they would love to have more families come and share their cultures or information about a country of
VIII. Committee Reports –
a. Beautification –Spring Cleanup date is tentatively set for Saturday, April 16th with a mulch delivery on Friday, April 15th. We will be weeding, edging, mulching and planting.
b. Book Fair – Spring Book Fair March 10th – 18th, with actual sales being from March 14th-18th. Sales will be during your child’s media time this fair. The volunteer sign-up is open and we still need many volunteers for the evening hours on all the days we are open. We also need a few volunteers for the set-up Thursday morning, March 10th. Please check Sign-Up Genius for open times. Last fall we sold over $16,000 in books, giving the library over $7,000 to spend with Scholastics. The library purchased several thousand dollars in books already and also used those funds for furniture, electronic equipment used during media time, and many other things. I would like to ask that you consider volunteering some time to this endeavor, the children love coming to the library and checking out their books. Thank you!
b. Cultural Arts – Joe Romano will perform two back to back morning performances for all students on Tuesday, April 12th. Joe’s shows will focus on the magic of reading.
c. Enrichment – We are in the final planning stages for the spring 2016 session of afterschool. Excite Enrichment programs. Starting March 14th, we’ll be offering a 9 week Spanish Language program for K-2nd graders. Then starting March 30th, there will be a 10-week Spanish language session for 3rd-5th graders. The flyer for the Spanish Language program will be going home Feb Additional Excite Enrichment programs (6-week sessions) will start the week of April 18th and include (tentatively) the following programs: Tennis (K-5th); Harry Potter book club with Donna Kinlaw (4th-5th), martial arts (K-5th), Compass Rose Theater (K-2nd), School of Rock music class (4th-5th), and Love the Ball Soccer (K-2nd). The flyer will be sent home with students after spring break at the end of March.

f. Talent Show – The talent show will be held May 4th at 6pm. We are still waiting to hear
g. Fundraising – back for approval on dates for the talent show auditions; they’ll most likely be held the first week of April with fliers heading home March 14th. We are still in need of helpers the night of the show; we need a videographer, someone to develop the program and sell roses! Also, if anyone is willing to put together a playlist of the performance songs that would be helpful too as the CDs are very outdated.
1. Restaurant Night – March 10th from 3-7pm at Spizzico.
2. Thank you to everyone who supported our February Skate Night at Skatezone this past Friday. We had 151 people attend and made $404.

i. Hospitality – We recognized our outstanding counselor, Mrs. Baicar, with a gift during National Counseling Week. We will start planning teacher/staff appreciation week soon.

l. Movie Night – Gratitude to Mr. & Mrs. Cordts for all their help in making movie night possible. Thank you to Mrs. Gerard and her daughter who so kindly helped with concessions and Mr. Noon for being so flexible with rescheduling. The children enjoyed the Minions!

t. Yearbook – We just wrapped up the 5th grade ad/baby face campaigns and the class of 2016 had the most submitted ads and baby photos, making this yearbook a huge success! Yearbook sales are in full swing – orders are due April 4th!! Fliers have been sent home, but you can also go to www.ybpay.lifetouch.com with the Yearbook ID code: 11928816 to order. Yearbooks start at $23, with many different options available. If you pay via check, you’ll receive a receipt from Maureen once your information has been entered. Please email Maureen with any questions at email@example.com.
u. Father/Daughter Dance – Due to the weather, the dance has been rescheduled to this Friday,March 4th from 7-9pm. No additional tickets will be sold, but refunds will be made to those whocan no longer attend due to the change of date. All the flowers that had been purchased for the original date were donated, at our cost, to a nursing home in Arnold; the elderly truly appreciated the flowers. No flowers will be purchased for the dance this Friday, however.
v. Traffic Calming Committee –
w. Mother/Son Dance – This event will be held on Friday, May 20th from 7-9pm. We are looking for a DJ and a Photobooth company, so if any PTO members know of anyone or of a company that would be cost efficient, please send them our way. Tickets will go on sale within the next 1-2 weeks. We will need donations for food and drink! Questions or interest in helping please email Amanda at firstname.lastname@example.org.
